Unrequited
2026 · Pinhole Photography · 17 × 11 cm, edition of 30
There is an asymmetry between humans and stone. Our urge is to touch, move, use and understand, and stone’s response is indifferent.
The images are a sequence to move through. There is a way in and a way out, and no direct path between them. The pictures are black and white, with nothing in the frame to give the scale. Here stone rests, adjusts or resists after being disturbed. It is shaped by forces vastly different in scale: mountain-building, ice pressure, water, time. Humans and stone exist simultaneously, but not at the same speed.
The stones do not communicate. Anything that comes back comes from us.
