Forest surrounds the viewer with trees that hang from the sky. It is cold there, and the wind does not stop.
Trees from near where I live were captured through photogrammetry, simulated as cloth and suspended in pale grey emptiness. They are sections of trunk, without canopy and without roots, turning slowly around you. The sound is a chilly wind.
It is watched through a VR headset. You have no body and cannot move, and the trees are there. It loops, invisibly. Standing among them you can feel held, or entirely apart.
Forest is the first of the tree works. The method came from Icelandic Landscapes, and the headset from Attract-Repel. It has been shown once, flattened onto a screen and without the headset.
