Tender Unknown

Installation, 2025. Using 3D animation, sound, and photography, Tender Unknown transformed the interior of the pavilion in Spökparken into a meeting place between human and nonhuman worlds.

3D scans of nearby trees were digitally reshaped into unfamiliar, dreamlike versions of themselves — entities at once intimate and distant. Projected within the pavilion, these shifting forms seemed to reach toward the living trees outside, creating a quiet dialogue between the digital and the real.

Through sound composed by Julie Zhu (US), murmurs and resonances evoked an atmosphere of listening and response. The work invited reflection on how we form emotional bonds with the more-than-human, even as our actions endanger what we love.

Exhibited during Stockholm Art Week 2025, Tender Unknown explored communication, empathy, and the fragile continuity between human and nonhuman life.
